Nominees for the 65th Grammy Awards were announced yesterday. Beyoncé leads the pack with nine nominations, further cementing her legacy at the awards show with the most nominations ever (well, she’s now tied with her husband for the most with 88 apiece). She earned eight nominations for her newest album Renaissance and a ninth for her song “Be Alive” from the film King Richard. It was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Original Song at this year’s awards.

It’s Beyoncé’s fourth nomination for Album of the Year and she will face off against Adele (30), Kendrick Lamar (Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers), Harry Styles (Harry’s House), ABBA (Voyage), Bad Bunny (Un Verano Sin Ti), Mary J. Blige (Good Morning Gorgeous), Coldplay (Music of the Spheres), Brandi Carlile (In These Silent Days), and Lizzo (Special). If Adele wins, she’ll tie for the most wins in the category and she is the only previous winner nominated. Styles, ABBA, Blige, and Bad Bunny are first-time nominees in the category.

Doja Cat received her third consecutive nomination for Record of the Year for “Woman,” signaling just how successful the rapper-singer has been in the past few years. It’s nominated alongside “Don’t Shut Me Down” by ABBA, “Easy on Me” by Adele, “Break My Soul” by Beyoncé, “Good Morning Gorgeous” by Mary J. Blige, “You and Me on the Rock” by Brandi Carlile featuring Lucius, “Bad Habit” by Steve Lacy, “The Heart Part 5″ by Kendrick Lamar, “About Damn Time” by Lizzo, and “As It Was” by Harry Styles.

The song’s accompanying short film, written and directed by Swift, is nominated for Best Music Video. It’s nominated alongside “Easy on Me,” “As It Was,” “The Heart Part 5,” “Woman,” and BTS’s “Yet to Come”

The nominees for Song of the Year are all nominated for Record of the Year as well, the exceptions being “All Too Well (10 Minute Version),” Bonnie Raitt’s “Just Like That,” GAYLE’s “ABCDEFU,” and DJ Khaled’s “God Did.”

Best New Artist nominees feature Brazilian superstar Anitta, the Italian rock group Måneskin, singer-songwriters Omar Apollo and Muni Long, jazz artists Samara Joy and the duo Domi and JD Beck, rappers Latto and Tobe Nwigwe, bluegrass singer and guitarist Molly Tuttle, and British indie rock duo Wet Leg.

Further down the list of nominees, Viola Davis received a nomination for Best Audio Book, Narration & Storytelling Recording for her memory Finding Me; if she wins she’ll officially be an EGOT winner.

Disney’s film Encanto scored three nominations, failing to be nominated for Record of the Year for “We Don’t Talk About Bruno,” which many outlets predicted. It’s the longest-running number one song from a Disney film in history. Rosalía’s acclaimed Motomami—nominated for eight awards at the Latin Grammy’s—received but a single nomination for Best Latin Rock or Alternative Album.

Controversial comedians Dave Chapelle and Louis C.K. are both nominated for Best Comedy Album. Previous Grammy winners Dua Lipa, Megan Thee Stallion, and Elton John are among the artists who failed to receive a single nomination.

The eligibility period for the 2023 Grammy’s ran from October 1, 2021, to September 30, 2022. The awards will be handed out at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on February 5, 2023.
